Celebrating the Millennium with Tony Orlando

New Year's 2000 was a very special night for those of you who were able to attend Tony's show at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. We thank Jo and Del for sharing their special memories of ringing in the new year, new century and the new Millennium with Tony Orlando and band, and invite those of you who were also there to share your experience! Please send photos and/or stories to webmaster and they will be added to the Millennium Section.

ATLANTIC CITY REPORT - By Del Smith

The Atlantic City show was awesome!!!!! The show ran little over 2 hours way past the normal A.C 75 minute limit. Jon made a spectacular A.C. debut with his opening act. I could quote some lines, but you'll just have to see him for yourselves. Move over Seinfeld and Drew Carey the Jon Orlando show is in the future. Tony came out and ran through the hits, the Smokey Joe's Cafe songs, and the Veterans' Tribute. Tony was joined by the wonderful Johnny Petillo for some 50s numbers. The band did their set. Then came the big moment at midnight. There was confetti, champagne, noisemakers, and balloons. The show wound up with the familar faces from "Jukebox Dreams" coming on stage for a bit of the dream sequence. Tony was awesome as always and so was the band. Tony had alot of family in attendance so he rightfully spent after the show with them. The "Troops" had fun hanging out together after the show, and having some Y2K fun with the other Taj guests. Frank & Linda, Denise, Dianne, Jo, and Sue were all there, and it was great to spend time with them. It was a great wrap up of an awesome tour year with Tony. Looking forward to another great year as we approach the 30th Anniversary of "Candida".

NEW YEAR'S EVE AT TAJ MAJAL - By Jo from New York

Hello everyone and very Happy New Year to All!

What a way to end a terrific year and bring in another! What a show!! So many new things were added and Tony sang like he's never sang before!

What a treat it was to have Jon open the show, he really is a very entertaining comedian. Tony came out saying that he was going to work his butt off and that he did. What an amazing show!

Tony led the countdown into the New Year and when the magical moment came, balloons & confetti were released from everywhere and champangne was flowing throughout the whole showroom. What a way to bring in the new Millennium!!

It was a pleasure to see Sue, Denise, Dianne and Del at the show. We shared some good times and alot of laughs both before and after the show. It was nice to meet two new friends, Linda & Frank. A good time was had by all!! I look forward to sending in pictures soon.

Happy New Year!

JO from NY
