What a night, what a show, what a guy, what a band! The audience last night was
really jumping. Many old friends were there and it was like a reunion in many
ways. It was amazing how well in sync this crowd was with him and the music--the
audience clapping along as one.
He changed the opening number back to I've Got Rhythm, followed by the standards
Yellow Ribbon/Knock Three Times/Candida/He Don't Love You. The show switched
pace with a moving rendition of Harmonizing Nights and then into the Smokey
Joe's songs--Spanish Harlem, Stand By Me, I Who Have Nothing, Young Blood.
The joint was really jumping with his version of "Harvey's Rag (We're Gonna
Rock this Town Tonight)" I could actually feel the floor shaking--my
initial reaction was uh-oh earthquake!--but then I realized it was just everyone
in the audience stomping their feet.
The Lefty Brothers did their now infamous Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Led
Zepplin routines and added Paul Simon's "You Can Call Me Al"--which
Tony camped up with his dancing and mimicking and had the audience in hysterics.
Billy added his version of the Rolling Stones song "Miss You."
Tony continued with Sweet Gypsy Rose and then into his New Years Eve routine.
His tribute to the Veterans was very moving and quite unexpected by some of the
Vets in the audience. It is always amazing to see how many Vets are in the
showroom--even one this intimate, as it seats only about 250 people.

What a cool site. I saw his show with my wife and had the chance to talk to
Tony in the casino after the show. I told him that I seen the Tower of Power
show across the street earlier that night and it was good, but his show was
GREAT. And as a Vet, I want to say that the whole part of the show where he
told us about what he does to honor Vets and his dedication to all of us
during the show really meant a lot. Thanks, Tony!

My oh my, I had forgotten how much fun one of his shows is. But I must admit I
really missed Telma and Joyce too. They used to perform frequently at the old
Sahara-Tahoe during the 70s. Friday night, Tony commented that one of the male
members of his group was singing backup and sounded just like Telma and after
he said it he started laughing so hard that he could hardly finish the song.
It was a night full of fun and laughs. I hope he comes back to Tahoe soon.
Does anyone know if Telma and Joyce are performing anywhere?

Hi Laurie,
Joyce is currently performing with her sister Pam Vincent. Joyce and Pam,
billed as Vincent and Vincent, perform in various venues in California.
Telma just completed a film called "Rain" for the Showtime cable
network. It was filmed in Detroit and is set to air in February, 2000.

I saw the show in Tahoe too, and fell in love all over again with his music.
Not only was the show fantastic, it was obvious that he was enjoying
performing as much as we were participating in the show. Quite a workout for
all of us. I can hardly wait for him to come back to Harveys and will keep an
eye on this site to see when he's scheduled to return in Y2K. Keep up the
great work.
And Tony, if you see this, how about adding Living La Vida Loca to the show?

Twice in one year, what luck. It's been a long time since Tony used to play
the Reno/Tahoe area every couple of months and it's great that he's getting
back into that schedule again. We are looking forward to his return. The
reviews here have been right on the money.
There wasn't much snow up in Tahoe, but we had too much fun in the show to
care about the poor ski conditions. It was a great Thanksgiving weekend.

OOOOoooooooooo la la. For a man in his late 50s, he sure can move, Italian
cooking or not. Especially liked those James Brown slides across the floor and
the spontaneous Flashdance impression in Friday's show. Felt sorry for the
people sitting ringside who had to duck and cover to avoid the water spray
though.
