Tony & Dawn DVD and CD's
Hi everyone - this is Brant from R2 Entertainment.  We've had a lot of questions regarding the forthcoming Tony Orlando & Dawn DVD collection and CD's.  I'll be producing both the DVD set as well as the CD reissues.  So you know, the process of releasing a DVD can be very tedious. It took us 18 months to get the Sonny & Cher collection completed.  There are so many clearance issues involved. First, there are the talent/actors guilds - however, the biggest hurdle to get over is clearing all of the music for release on DVD. It's a real waiting game, as every single song must be cleared by the respective publisher.  The music clearance agency sends a letter for each individual song to its publishing company and then we wait....and in some cases, wait some more! It was our original intent to offer the Tony & Dawn DVD collection through a TV campaign (infomercial) this fall, but given the uncertain timing regarding all of the clearances, we've had to push the release into the first part of 2005 - hopefully in the first quarter of the year. Then, it will hit retail stores mid year.

The CD's are all coming along nicely. The clearances aren't nearly as difficult, as we only have to work with BMG (who has all of the Bell / Arista recordings) and Warner Strategic Marketing, who handles the Elektra titles.  It's too early to give you the exact details, but it is our goal to make available every Tony Orlando & Dawn song from their Bell & Elektra albums on CD. This will also include the non-LP singles and b-sides!  Since the original albums were quite short (around 35 minutes in length) compared to today's CD releases - and since a CD can hold up to 80 minutes of music, the albums are being reconfigured to put more songs on each CD. Example, "Candida" will be released again - only this time most of the 2nd album "Dawn featuring Tony Orlando" will also be included as part of the "Candida" CD.  "Tuneweaving" will have bonus tracks, as will "New Ragtime Follies," "Prime Time" and "He Don't Love You."  It looks as though "To Be With You" will be the only CD with the same track list as the original album.  All of the songs from "Skybird" will be included, only spread across these other discs. Most of the CD's will be about an hour in length each.

So there's a lot of exciting news, but it will also test everyone's patience!  I will be working with Tony on selecting content for the DVD set - which will be 3 DVD's. We hope to include a lot of the best moments from many shows, including great guest stars, comedy sketches and of course, all of the great performances by Tony, Telma and Joyce!  We've also been waiting for access to the first 4 summer replacement shows, which we now have.  We also have to work with Tony, Joyce and Telma's busy schedules, as we're planning to film new interviews and show commentary.

Here at R2 Entertainment, we're very excited to be releasing these shows on DVD and albums on CD....finally!  Hang in there, the wait will be well worth it!

Best regards,
Brant

Tony Orlando's Show at Three Little Bakers
Wow what a great performance. I used to stay home once a week as a teenager to watch Tony and Dawn. And I cannot believe I finally was able to see him in person and even get to talk to him after the show. What a wonderful gracious man he is. I am very thankful to have had the special  treat to meet him in person. Brought back many many wonderful memories. Thanks so much. Come to Delaware again soon.  I am the one that gave you the shirt from Broadkill Beach.

Re:  Tony Orlando's Show at Three Little Bakers
Welcome Melinda, we are glad you enjoyed the show.  Tony has appeared at the Three Little Bakers before so there's a good chance he'll be back again.

No, this is not happening.  Thanks for coming here and asking for the truth.  It gets very frustrating that there are people who spread this rumor without verifying this with a legitimate source.  I suspect that this rumor will continue to pop up over the summer while Telma is on hiatus from her TV show.

TV Land's Top Ten Favorite Dads
Did anyone catch Tony's interview clips on this show?

Tied for Number 10:  Ozzie Nelson and Ozzy Osbourne:

Tony (referring to Ozzy):  "I remember that one scene where he talks about his daughter getting a tattoo and he calls his wife and says he doesn't want her to have the tattoo.  I get a big kick out of Ozzy being like Ozzie Nelson."

Number 6;  Red Foxx

"Fred Sanford never made me feel like he was acting.  Never made me feel like he ever read a script.  Always had me thinking that this was right off the top of his head."

Number 4: Fred Gwynne

"I was more of a Munsters guy than Addams family guy and  I think it was Fred's performance: (imitating Fred's huh huh huh laugh)."

Judging by the people interviewed most, if not all, of these interviews were taped during the TV Land Awards in March.

Redding, California
It was great to see Tony in Northern California again. I think he enjoyed it in Redding. He said it was Gods Country there with all the mountains around and the green trees. If he had come to Redding later in the summer, he would have not thought it was Gods Country there, because it gets HOT!

Before the show you could buy CD's and pictures and they also had Rose Pins they were giving to all the ladies for Mother's Day which was a very nice gift to the ladies.

The show started differently then most of Tony's shows. There was no one to introduce him he just walked out on stage with no music and introduced himself. He then went on to sing his big hits plus his newest songs he has wrote about Puerto Rico and Caribbean Jewel which everyone loved; that Latin beat! His band did a few Beatles songs plus a few songs Kerry did to surprise the crowd. Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Led Zepplin.  And by the way Tony has a new drummer! That's right he now has Michael Jackson as his drummer. No, not the famous Michael Jackson that is on the news every day! And then Toni Wine did a few of her famous songs she wrote. It was nice to see her perform with the band.

Even though Tony seemed to be very tired he still had a great show and was still able to do his MOVES he has that makes all the ladies go crazy. He also was having a little trouble with his voice and was not able to do the salute to the Veterans.

All in all it was a great show!

Re:  Redding, California
It is always nice when Tony returns to Northern California.  He and Joyce and Telma had many venues they performed at regularly up here.  In fact, when Tony returned to show business in 1977 he chose the Circle Star for his first performance, what higher compliment can you give to a fan base?  Like I said before, it is great to see that he is performing in our neck of the woods for a change.
