PBS Special

Does anyone have any information on when the PBS show with the TOAD reunion will be on?  I heard it was going to air in Pittsburgh first, and then the rest of the country. Any news?

Re:  PBS Special

Although the station originally intended to air the special in September, it has not yet been scheduled to air in the Pittsburgh area or anywhere else.  We will keep you informed when the program will air.

eBay

Hello TOAD fans I was just on eBay and found a few nice things on eBay for TOAD including a cassette greatest hits collection that covers all the Bell/Arista hits...20 tracks in all.  Also several LPs and new CD hits collections are being offered.  Check out eBay under music....Tony Orlando

Tony

I'm 33 and have only vague memories of the Tony Orlando and Dawn show. I had often wondered whatever became of Tony Orlando. I'm glad to hear he is still performing.

Mohegan Sun
Tony and his group put on a spectacular show at the Mohegan Sun Casino Cabaret in Connecticut....although most of the crowd was older, my 33 year old daughter enjoyed him as much as the rest of the crowd.  Boy was she surprised!  Did me a favor and accompanied me and didn't expect to see a super star!  By far he is the best performer I have seen this year...his group - forgot their names - three brothers - new drummer from Shelton, CT. - & his own brother were excellent ...... what a show they all put on!  Will definitely attend his concert again when he returns!

Vacaville
Who would have guessed there is a state of the art theater in the middle of nowhere?  I was so surprised.  I think Tony was, because he commented on it too.  The biggest surprise of the evening was when Tony hauled Kerry's and Tracy's cousin Rick up on the stage to sing.  He sang "Satisfaction" just like they used to when they were little kids.  Kerry helped with the words.  Tony was teaching him the Mick Jagger moves to go along with the song.  What a good sport he was!  Tony scared him by handing him the microphone and saying "You do the show" and then he walked off stage.  He turned to his cousins with a bit of panic in his voice and said "where do we go, where do we go?"  Tony came back on stage to rescue him.  Later they gave Rick a CD of his performance recorded from the board.  He was thrilled to have that souvenir.  He told me that all the time he was up on stage he was praying that no one from the office was in the audience, but when Tony brought up the lights so he could see his standing ovation he spotted someone from the office waving at him.  He is in for it tomorrow!  It was a great show and I hope Tony comes back to this theater again soon.

Re:  Vacaville
I was at the Vacaville show September 10, 2003.  I have been one of Tony's most loyal fans since Feb 4, 1977 since we met him backstage at the Circle Star Theatre in San Carlos.  I had not seen a live show for many years since he had not been to Northern California.  I have seen him recently the last six or seven years.  My daughter, grandaughter (who is one), niece and best friend went to Vacaville.  This was the first time for my niece to see Tony in person even tho she had heard for years what a fantastic showman and individual Tony is.  Well we were at the meet and greet and she met him and now knows what a personable, sincere person he is.  He is not just an entertainer.  He is a wonderful example of a caring human being.  Every show I have seen which is quite a few have been terrific with the audience participating and a wonderful patriotic tribute to our wonderful veterans.  Thanks Tony, I love you. The Nugget
I had a most interesting experience at Tony's show at the Nugget in Sparks.  I was a first-timer who went with two long time friends of his, although I didn't know it at the time.  I don't know what I enjoyed more, the show or the company of these two people!   You know how you always sit around before the show, just waiting for it to begin and time drags on?  Not in this instance.  We had so much fun pre-show that we were pumped up by the time the curtain lifted.  Tony came out wearing a tux but lost the tie and jacket very early in the show.  He sang extended versions of Yellow Ribbon, Candida, and Knock Three Times, playing with the audience all the while.  It didn't take much to get us to participate in the game.  His vocal range is extraordinary.  I didn't know he could sing that low.  He played a good deal of the show to our table and at times had us in uncontrollable fits of laughter.  I really enjoyed Caribbean Jewel, a song he wrote with his brother.  It could be a great commercial success and I wonder why he hasn't put it out on a CD himself.  Anyone can make a CD nowadays.  You don't need a record label behind you.   He brought someone from Branson to sing a couple of songs, but frankly I would have preferred hearing more from the guys in the band.  The Beatles set kept up pumped up and going.  The audience was belting it out along with him.  All in all a definite thumbs up.
