Post-concert book signing, etc
I have been a 30+ year fan of Tony  Orlando...a teenager when Candida became a hit.  After watching his TV biography 1-2 years ago, I have gained an increased respect and admiration for the man behind the music.

What is the possibility of meeting Tony post-concert and/or does he sign/sell copies of his "Halfway to Paradise" biography at concerts? My daughters and I purchased tickets for a December '02 performance and would love to meet him afterwards during a book-signing arrangement, etc. Does he routinely make himself available after concerts for this publicity?

We appreciate your dedication to this website. Thank you.

Re:  Post-concert book signing, etc.
Donna, it depends on his schedule more than anything else.  If he has time, he will take photos, sign autographs or just chat with fans.  He is always happy to meet any fan who waits around after a show as long as he has the time.  It is not guaranteed however.  He often has commitments or interviews following a show.  Also, if he has to play a concert in another city the next day he usually leaves that night for the next town.  Lately he has been doing  book signings in cities where he has a concert series.

Hi, I live in Bermuda and have been a Tony fan since I was about 11. I saw an interview with him regarding his book, I believe it was Halfway to Paradise?? I have searched all the bookstores here, no one has heard of it!!!! Do I have the right title???.
Tell Tony to come with the girls to Bermuda, he has lots of fans here!!!!!        LIZ

Re:  Book
Welcome Liz.  Yes you have the correct title.  Don't think that the problem with the book is limited to Bermuda, I have not seen it in any bookstore either.  Perhaps the only stores that stock the book are those where he is making a personal appearance.  The best place to get a copy is at one of the major online booksellers like amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com.  From time to time copies come up on ebay as well.

Tony's Heritage
I am writing a paper for a humanities class. I attended a concert Tony did in Jackson, Michigan on November 23rd. It was wonderful. I instantly knew I wanted to write my paper on him.

Can you give me some information on his background and how that affected his decision to go into music. I can really use any information you can give me. Thanks a bunch! Love you Tony!

Re:  Tony's Heritage
Peruse the site and you will find much information about him, including a short biography.  You may also wish to purchase a copy of his new autobiography, Halfway to Paradise.

Hard to find music
Does anyone know how to find some of Tony's older music.
I'm looking for Casablanca Years and one called Tony Orlando that has oldie music on it.  And when is Tony coming out with a new cd.  Can't wait!!

Tony rocks!!

I love you Tony

Re:  Hard to find music
The best place to find most of the music for an inexpensive price is on eBay.

Re:  Hard to find music
I just saw Tony's Casablanca Years CD and Bless You and 17 Greatest Hits from his teen idol years on ebay; also a few alternate Dawn hits CDs pop up now and then.  Check out House of Strangers and Dawn, 20 Best of...I think both are from England.

Looking for People
Hi, this is for Robin Schindler.  I was on this site a long time ago and saw you were looking for Terri Browne.  Did you find her? Terri was also a friend of mine.  I was one of the people who made one of the trips with you guys the Las Vegas in 1976 (me & my sister---we were down for the summer from Canada).  Anyway I am looking for other friends.  Did you know Patti & Barb?  Or does Terri keep in touch with them? Thanks, Gwen

Surprise Single
I just found a copy of Gimme a Good Old Mammy Song on ------ARISTA!!!!!.--------I never knew this was released as a single?  The B side is Little Heads in Bunkbeds.  Both tracks are from Prime Time LP on Bell from 1974. I suppose Arista wanted to cash in a year later by releasing this.  Do you have any info on when it was actually released,...what month, etc.?  Thanks.

Re: Surprise Single
ARISTA 0105 Gimme a Good Old Mammy Song/Little Heads in Bunkbeds was released in 1975. The first Tony Orlando & Dawn single released after BELL officially became ARISTA. This places it after Look in My Eyes Pretty Woman and before He Don't Love You on Elektra. The single was probably not intended for Top 40 or Adult Contemporary but for the Adult Standards market.

Summer Shows

Do you know if the Summer Shows have been added to the reruns on GoodLife or if they are available yet?  I would love to see them again.

Re:  Summer Shows

It appears these are the "lost episodes" of the TOAD shows.  They have never been aired in reruns.  There are many people who would love to see them again.  They were great shows.  I remember listening to the audiotapes over and over until some of them broke.

Sing

If you talk to Joyce or any member of Dawn could you ask her/them to settle a bet/rumor regarding the release of the groups last single  SING/SWEET ON CANDY.  The rumor is that an LP had been recorded to be released in 1977 but Tony became ill and then went solo, so the LP was never released.  If so does she/they have any memories of the songs that where recorded for the LP or if there was ever a song that they recorded that she thought was really good but it never came out???  Thanks.

Website

Thanks for putting together this website... I am enjoying the group so much on their Good Life Network reruns and they bring back terrific memories. The act never got the respect it deserved. I have most of their music and I cherish it. Keep up the good work.

The O'Reilly Factor
What a great interview it was last night.  Thanks for giving us information.  Although it was short, maybe it would have been longer if Bill, or his staff, had done their usual research.  I was looking forward to one of Bill's typical interviews and was sort of sorry it wasn't.  It should help the book sales.

TOAD
I have been the announcer on many national TV shows, Telma, Joyce and Tony are three of the nicest talented people I've worked with, I am also a big fan. Roger Carroll, announcer TOAD CBS-TV.

You Are Better Than The Beatles!
Oh my gosh! On a whim today I thought, 'I wonder if my ole buddy has some web sites?'  WOW!!!  Hello!!  I grew up loving Tony & Dawn!  I still have my scrapbook of over 300 pictures, T.V. Guide covers, fan club info, all of their albums, teen mags. and back before there were VCR's, I used to audio tape every show, and I still have some today, they still work!!  Talk about memories!!  I never got into Ringo, or John... Elvis or Elton, I was a true fan of Tony & Dawn.  I actually saw him in May of 1974 at the Kalamazoo County Fair grounds.  WOW!!  I still have my snow cone straw which is brown, because that was the color of his suit that he wore that night!! Am I not a true fan or what?  I would go down to our newsstand whenever he was on a cover of the T.V. guide and ask them for any extra copies. They would dig them out of the paper trash for me!! Weren't they nice! What a great moral person to grow up admiring, not like some of the yucky - 'people' we have today. I even did an autobiography for a school project and received an 'A' for an excellent job! Boy, I'm sitting here just soaking up the memories.  Thanks everyone, for being a friend of the best trio ever!!  I wish they would do a comeback show!!  God bless you all!!

Re:  You Are Better Than The Beatles!
Welcome Carrie.  You will find many of us "old timers" here, most going back to the beginning with Dawn in the opening act days and some even earlier.  Glad you found some memories here and you are also welcome to share some of yours.

Tony, Thanks for the Memories
Just saw you on Letterman tonight and you brought back so many great memories!  We've seen the cream of the crop in Vegas and no one was as good as you! Actually, my husband was so hesitant to see you but I bugged him - We had seats next to the stage and we both left in tears - Tony, you were better than anyone we've ever seen - & my husband has been with Dean, Frank, Sammy  - was in Vegas when they filmed the 1st Oceans 11.  I'd give anything to see you again - I love you!!!! Thanks for the memories - Marcia McVey

House of Strangers
Hello, I was just on ebay and was able to pick up a few dawn gems, including the single Vaya Con Dios. I am looking forward to getting this since it has an alternate version of Can't Believe How Much I Love You.  I picked up a Wind LP and just got the UK CD House of Strangers.  For some of you Tony and Dawn fans out there this is the bulk of the He Don't Love You LP on CD with tracks from some of their other LPs.  I really like this CD, it has some remixes of the original tracks but it does not change the originals much.  Mostly it gives them a more contemp. style.  The remixes are slight and a good Dawn fan will notice the He Don't Love You LP was one of their best LPs ever.  Let's still hope with the success of Tony's book and the Dawn show in reruns we will get all the Tony and dawn LPs on CD.
