John Davidson as Guest Star?
Friday 23-Jun-2000 13:31:02
Was John Davidson ever a guest star on Tony Orlando and Dawn?  The episode guide contains no mention of his name  but I think I can remember John and Tony singing a duet as the closing song.

Yes  John Davidson was a guest on the January 21  1976 episode of "Tony Orlando and Dawn". A list of the skits/songs he performed on the show can be found on the Episode Guide at:

Additionally  the series as shown on GoodTV has been edited to fit within their commercial structure.  As a result many skits or numbers you remember vividly have been cut out.

  • Thanks  Pat!

Do you remember skits or numbers from the Davidson episode?  During one song  Tony and John pretended to exchange identities  and they traded their jackets and boots on stage!

Has anyone gotten tix for 7/23 at Westbury yet? I tried but was told they aren't on sale yet.

I would recommend checking with them again.  Sometimes you just get the wrong person on the phone.  Try getting them from the Ticketmaster web site.  You need to search for the Debbie Reynolds performance though--they do not have it cross referenced under Tony Orlando.

I got mine today. They were able to find the show under Tony Orlando at the Ticketmaster outlet  but the salesperson couldn't get to "buy the ticket". The on-line site finally worked for me today!!!!!!!

Yes  I went directly to Westbury on Friday  6/30 and got 5 tickets for Tony's show there on 7/23.  You can also go on Ticketmaster's website or call them.  By going directly to the theater (if it's close enough)  you can save on the TM service charges.  For cash  Westbury only charges $1.00 per ticket.

Hi.  I got my tickets last week for the Westbury show.  I too went to Westbury to get them.  They have already sold many seats.  I wish Tony was there for the full show too!  But  it doesn't matter...all I need is to hear his voice and see hime smile just once and I will be happy for a long  long time.  We love to have him at Westbury  don't we?
Do any of you going to the show live on Long Island?  I do.  It would be fun to meet up with you at the show!  Theresa

A Note of Thanks........

Dear Pat   I would like to thank you for bringing our messages of sympathy to Joyce and her family.
I am sure that because of the special friendship you and Joyce share  your presence was extremely comforting to her at the services this weekend  but knowing that our words and prayers reached her is very touching.  Through you  she was able to know that there are still many of us that remember her and care enough to offer our support and kindness.
Thank you Pat...Jo

    Jo
I also went to the services as a representative for all of those who posted their condolence messages to this message board.
The services were a beautiful tribute to a young lady who had suffered for so long and faced her illness with strength and courage.  Listening to her relatives  teachers  school friends  and members of the community speak about her during the services--even though it was difficult for some to maintain their composure while doing so--spoke volumes about this young woman and how she touched and inspired so many people.
The grief weighed heavily upon the family but hearing words of support and comfort means so much to them.
As the condolence messages are still coming in on this board and some directly by email  I will be compiling all of them at weeks end into booklet form for the family.  I know it will mean a great deal to them to read the messages of support and condolences from everyone here who was kind enough to post.  Let them know they are our friends and we care a great deal about them.

June 16th 2000 Greatest Show Ever
Saturday 17-Jun-2000 21:09:44
Last night at this time I was in Branson  MO and at the Osmond Theater witnessed probably the greatest preformance ever by Tony Orlando. All I can say is if it gets any better than that one (and I am serious) I couldn't stand it. I came home on the plane today and I haven't been able to get it off my mind. It has been 24 hours now and I still am electrified. I was even looking for the yellow ribbons when I got home. I saw 12 great shows in Branson this time but let me tell you. Tony Orlando is the King. Later – cpl

TONY LIVE ON RADIO!!
Friday 16-Jun-2000 00:46:50
Hi All!
Let me say what a thrill it was to speak with Tony live on radio tonight!!!
I found out that Tony was being interviewed on the radio tonight and although I couldn't hook up with the radio station through the internet (my computer wasn't complying) I was amazed to find out that the radio station was here on Long Island in New York!!!!
Well  at first the station had a little difficulty locating Tony  but nevertheless  they found Tony at his home in Branson.  I called the station and asked if they could pass along a message to Tony and was asked "well  why don't you just pass it along yourself?"  OH MY GOSH!
I told Tony that I am thrilled to hear that he will be coming back next month to Westbury and congratulated him on his induction to the Hall of Fame.  We spoke about the Yankee Jersey that I gave to him here in Westbury  last November and told him that many of us are anxiously awaiting his arrival back at the Tropicana in Atlantic City in the Fall.
Immediately following  he spoke with Pat and Del and I know it was just as much a thrill for them to speak with Tony as it was for me.  It was great to hear their voices too!!

    Friday 16-Jun-2000 12:17:48
That was a lot of fun last night Jo--like we were all in one living room chatting away.  Geoff Edwards initially seemed a bit confused about how we were all listening from such vast distances.  It took him a bit  but it finally occurred to him that we were listening over the internet.
It was even better knowing everyone who called in and also being able to talk to each other on line at the same time.  And  yes  you sounded just fine over the airwaves.  You too Del.
Too bad there was that traffic jam in Branson and more people didn't get a chance to call in ;).  But Geoff was a trooper and kept the program going anyway.  Fried lobster???  LOL!!!
Like Tony said on the air  he is happiest when he is on stage.  I think we all are as well.  Enjoy Westbury!

I am sure it was a thrill to speak to Tony on the radio  but seeing him live on stage is even better. He is a wonderful performer.I met him after his shows in person  he is a real nice guy  we took pictures together  we talked a few mintues  then I left and another fan came back stage.

Speaking to him whether in person or over the phone is always the best.  Nothing is better than an intimate conversation  even if it is broadcast on the radio!  LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Way to go Jo!  That was great of you to support him in such a personal way.  I know he appreciated it.  It was obvious to all who were listening especially with all the kind things he said about you.

Meeting Tony
Sunday 11-Jun-2000 10:25:59
Just wanted to say that my dad and I had the wonderful experience of meeting Tony at Westbury in November  1999.  What a sweetheart.  I don't know of many performers who would take the time that he does with his fans.  He is extremely down to earth.  He was nice enough to autograph the back of a photo that I have kept of him since the early seventies.  It was his idea to hold that photo up in the picture we took together.  My dad is a WWII veteran  and he was so respectful and gracious to him.  It meant a lot to both me and my dad to have the opportunity to meet such a wonderful man.

THE TOAD SITE

How exciting that you were contacted to assist in putting together an interview with Tony Orlando with A&E tne the BBC!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It only confirms how wonderfully helpful you are all around.  About a year ago when I first began searching the internet for information on Tony  I was led to the TOAD Site.  Here I found clear up to date  accurate information on all of Tony's upcoming shows and events  as well as all of Tony's latest breaking news.
The TOAD Site continues to bring me back to a very special time in my life where each memory is captured and enhanced by the momentuous songs and music of Tony Orlando & Dawn.  It is there that it all began and I'm so thankful to have found a site where at any time I can have "A Blast from the Past" and relive some of those very special moments.
This site is totally dedicated to the Tony Orlando and Dawn of then and the Tony Orlando of now.  The assistance you have given to the fans and friends of TOAD has been phenomenal.  Not only have you gone out of your way to help people connect with Tony  you've answered questions  provided trivia knowledge  settled bets  provided terrific photos and have given all the supportive information that makes the TOAD Site truly unique.
Recently  while in Atlantic City  I was able to enjoy listening to some very well deserved compliments given to the TOAD Site.  It was so wonderful to hear your site given its' proper recognition and to hear how highly he praised and respects this wonderful TOAD Site.
Thanks So Much!!

From A&E to the BBC
Wednesday  7-Jun-2000 19:02:42
Julie and I have two items of information to share with all of the Friends of TOAD.
Last week we were contacted by the A&E Network.  They are putting together a special on the Brill Building and would like to interview Tony for the project.  Many of you may be aware that Tony started out singing in the Brill Building.  The target airdate for this special is April/May 2001.
Today we were contacted by BBC Television in the UK.  They are currently producing a television documentary for world transmission on the history of popular music in the Twentieth Century and would like to interview Tony for the project.
We are thrilled to facilitate both of these networks in contacting Tony and his management and are glad that our site contributes in some way to worldwide awareness of both Tony and TOAD.  Both of these producers gave their highest compliments to the web site  commenting on its beautiful presentation and wealth of information.
A year and a half ago when the site was first started we never imagined that it would grow immensely in popularity and obtain the worldwide reputation it has.  We are delighted that the site presents an honest reflection of their career as a group and an insight to their current whereabouts.  And  as always  we are glad that we can assist  even in some small way  in bringing projects like these to the members of the group.

Tony's age (a discussion and bet among friends)
Monday  5-Jun-2000 15:27:05
We recently visited Branson and had a wonderful experience at the Tony Orlando show.  He called my husband down (who was taking a picture) and he sang (and forgot the words) to Beer Barrel Polka while standing with Tony.  We now have a nice picture of the two of them together.  However  we and our friends disagree as to Tony's age.  Can you help us!  (No money riding on this.)

Tony does not even look his age  he has so much energy in him when he is on stage dancing and singing he looks 10 years younger. Keep up the great work it looks good on him.
